Janivee Truman-Matheny, 84, of Akron, OH, passed on Saturday, August 21st 2004 after suffering a long illness. She was born April 28th 1920 at Oka, WV, a daughter of the late Calvin and Emma Jarvis Truman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Matheny; three brothers, Greely, Lawrence and Leo Truman; one sister, Gertie Simons. She was a homemaker, wife and mother. She had lived in Akron, since 1943, when she joined her husband, who came to help in the war effort. In recent years, she was a member of the Golden Agers Group at the Baptist Temple. She loved to laugh and will be sorely missed by her many friends. She leaves behind her daughter, Janice Matheny-Carper of Akron, OH; sister, Evelyn Simons of Spencer, two grandsons, Tod Carper and his wife, Diane of Dover, OH and Marten Carper and his fiancée, Jacqlyn McCormick of Akron, OH; two great grandsons, Kevin Carper of Akron, OH and Willem Carper of Dover, OH; one great granddaughter, Chloe Carper of Dover, OH; sixteen nieces and twelve nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, August 25th at 11:00 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Rick Metheney, her nephew, officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer. Friends may call Tuesday, August 24th from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
