CUT FIBER OPTIC CABLE DISRUPTS SERVICE

Long distance phone service from Calhoun and other regional phone exchanges was down for several hours Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. Jerry Davis with Frontier Phone said a fiber optic cable was severed between Spencer and Charleston. "A crew worked continuously to restore the service," said Davis. Internet service was also down. Local residents could make long distance calls by cell phone.
