Francis G. "Frank" Ayers Sr., 65, of Davisville passed away July 31, 2004, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Grantsville, W.Va., a son of Hazel C. Hall Ayers and the late Vernon E. Ayers. He was retired from the Ames Corporation; served in the U.S. Air Force; and had a great love for his family and bluegrass music. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Georgia Simmons Ayers, whom he married May 14, 1959; three children, Stephanie "Penny" Stalnaker and her husband, Jeff, of Parkersburg, Francis G. Ayers Jr. and his wife, Paula, of Davisville and Sonjia L. Cline and her husband, Donald, of Sistersville; five grandsons, Jonathan Stalnaker, Brandon Ayers and Jesse, James and Joseph Cline. Also, one sister, Judy Stump; three brothers, Mike, Roger and Richard Ayers; and many bluegrass friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Ruth Ayers. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, with the Rev. Paul McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in the Starcher Cemetery, Calhoun County, W.Va. Friends may call from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. today and until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
