Ruth Wilson, 83 - Spencer

Ruth Wilson, 83, of Spencer, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.

She was born April 4, 1921, in Ritchie County, a daughter of the late James A. and Bessie Rose Plum Lowther. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lorren Wilson, September 13, 2002; one brother, John Edward Lowther; two sisters, Thelma Fultz and Mildred Carter.

Mrs. Wilson was a former manger of the Spencer Roane Grocery, Spencer and a former employee of Denbigh-Garrett Ford & Mercury, Spencer. She was a volunteer at Helping Hand and the Red Cross. She was also a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church, Spencer, where she was a member of the Anna King Circle.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Martha Wilson of Spencer; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Janet Wilson of Atwater, OH and Mike and Susan Wilson of Charleston; a stepdaughter, Linda Rhodes of Akron, OH; a sister Wilma Morris of Spencer; a brother, William Lowther of Parkersburg; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, August 3 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. G. David Calvert officiating.

Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Gay. Friends may call a Monday, August 2 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
