Arlie L. Tingler, 86, of Vienna died July 30, 2004, at his residence.

He was born in Calhoun County, W.Va., the son of the late Roscoe and Nettie Richards Tingler. He had at one time been employed by the Hope Gas Co. and later worked for the John Manville Co. and retired from there after 29 years service. He had attended the Christian Life Center in Parkersburg and was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his children, Marvin Tingler of Warren, Ohio, Marlin Tingler of Walker, Lawrence Tingler of Ohio, Michael Tingler of Parkersburg, Delmar Tingler of Davisville, Lonnie Tingler of Vienna, Dora Whitehair of Parkersburg, Rosemary Icenhower of Vienna, Charlotte Gant of Davisville and Marsha Carroll of Parkersburg. Brothers, Orville Tingler of Florida and Alvin Tingler of Windham, Ohio; his sisters, Margaret Cox of Florida, Dorothy Dye of Grantsville, W.Va., Oleta Wilt of Vienna, Velda Kelly of Atwater, Ohio, and Ireda Hardman of Calhoun County; 41 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Muriel Wyers Tingler; one son, Melvin Tingler; one granddaughter, Shannon Nicole Tingler; and two brothers, Romie and Oney Tingler.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Pastor Ray Seebaugh officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memory Gardens with full military graveside rites by the Parkersburg American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
