Richard H. Bennett, 76 - Rosedale

Richard H. Bennett, 76, of Rosedale, West Virginia, passed away July 26, 2004 at Braxton County Hospital, Gassaway.

Born in Braxton County, he was a son of the late Doyle and Mae Nicholas Bennett. He was a devoted Christian and life long resident of Rosedale. He was a member of the Normantown High School Champion Basketball team in 1945 and was a member of the masonic Lodge in Gassaway for 50 years.

Surviving are his wife, Garnet Dawn Moore Bennett; children, Debbie Moore and her husband Joe of Ripley, Carol Polan and her husband Chuck of Huntington, Richard Bennett and his wife Jayne of Reedy, Vicky Carter and her husband Donald of Rosedale and Lisa Tanner and her husband Tom of Perkins; sister, Barbara Kincaid and her husband Bill of Spencer; 10 grandchildren, Alicia Elswick, Trae Elswick, Daniel Elswick, Scott Bennett, Chris Brownlee, Justin Carter, Lee Ann Bennett, Josh Carter, Katelin Bennett and Lucas Tanner; a great granddaughter, Brittany Hanning; and cousin and special friend, Gene Bennett of Rosedale.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Davis of Detroit, Michigan.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31 at 2 p.m. at stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Elder George Rose will officiate. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Normantown with Masonic Graveside Rites.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
