CALHOUN TEACHERS RANK 45TH IN SALARY

Calhoun County teachers ranked 45th in West Virginia's 55 counties in the amount classroom teachers are paid, according to an annual survey issued by the American Federation of Teachers. The survey said Calhoun had 96.25 school employees with an average salary of $37,168.27. Gilmer County ranked 53rd, Wirt ranked 48th and Roane ranked 37th. West Virginia teachers earned $7,234 less than the national average. The average beginning teacher's salary in the state was $26,692.
