SEVEN PEOPLE IN FRIDAY WRECKS - Only One Taken To Hospital

(07/10/2004)
A single car accident at 10:12 a.m. yesterday near the mouth of Walker Creek on State Route 16 sent one woman to Roane General Hospital. There was one other occupant uninjured.

The vehicle reportedly went out of control and crashed against the road bank.

The woman was briefly trapped in the vehicle, according to an Upper West Fork VFD spokesperson. Calhoun EMS responded to the accident with Sheriff Allen Parsons.

A two car collision on Henry's Fork at 10:50 a.m. yesterday did not result in injuries.

Charles "Tap" Kerby, his wife Phyllis and two grandchildren, were not injured. Kirby said everyone was restrained in the 1997 Buick LaSabre, with air bags deploying.

The driver of a Saturn vehicle, identified as Candice Stalnaker, escaped injury, with the air bag deploying.

Kerby's vehicle had pulled to the right and stopped when it was struck.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage.

Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center dispatched an ambulance to the accident and the Arnoldsburg VFD also responded. Chief Deputy Carl Ballengee investigated.

At least two other ambulances were dispatched on medical runs during the same time frame.
