EMS prepares victim for transport

Auto described as total loss

A Calhoun woman was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center after her compact Geo collided with a Ford Explorer. The victim was briefly trapped in the Geo, which was described as a total loss.

Authorities identified the driver and victim as Linda Simmons. The extent of her injuries were not known, although a source at the scene indicated she did not appear to be critically injured.

The Simmons vehicle was traveling south and the Explorer, whose driver was uninjured, was traveling north.

The accident happened about noon today on Phillip's Run, Route 16 three miles south of Grantsville.

Chief Deputy Carl Ballengee is investigating the accident.

Calhoun EMS transported the victim to the hospital. Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center dispatched an ambulance to the scene. The Grantsville VFD also responded.
