Avis G. Wright, 87, of Grantsville, WV, died Saturday morning, April 21 at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, Grantsville.

Born in Braxton County, he was a son of the late Wade H. and Hannah Frame Wright. He was a U S Army Veteran of WW II where he served in the European Theatre. He received the Purple Heart after being wounded in action in France. He was retired from Ohio Edison Corporation with 21 years service. He was a member of the Enon Baptist Church at Grantsville.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Wava Ruth Wright, a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Marion Wright of Freemont, Ohio; two brothers, Guy Wright of Ripley, WV and Don Wright of Louisiana; three grandchildren, Adam, Matt and Kimberly Wright and two great grandchildren, Ian McKinstery and Takoda Wright.

He was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 5 brothers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 24, 1:00 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Reverend Harry Siers will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
