Phyllis Butler, 52, of Lenoir, N.C., formerly of Calhoun, went home to be with the Lord on June 23, 2004, at Caldwell County Hospice, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 10, 1951, in Orma, W.Va., a daughter of the late Willie F. and Beatrice Carpenter Butler. She was of Baptist faith and worked for American & Efird.

She is survived by her husband, Larry L. Butler of Lenoir; son, Larry L. "Lee" Butler Jr. of Lenoir; daughter, Cassie R. Butler of Lenoir; two brothers, Earline Dale "Bud" Wears of Ohio and Carmen G. "Shorty" Butler of Lenoir; four sisters, Geraldine "Gerri" Skinner and her husband, Bill, of Florida, Bernadine Underwood of Lenoir, Pauline "Polly" Cunningham of Castle Hayne, N.C., and Dinah Butler of Lenoir; and 14 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Pendry's Funeral Home Chapel, Lenoir, N.C., with Chaplain Steven Butler officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
