Losie Jane Helmick Carter, 92, of Nicut, West Virginia, passed away June 10, 2004 at her home. Born in Calhoun County she was a daughter of the late Hutson and Belle Metz Helmick. Surviving are four sons, Gene Carter of Nicut, Russell Carter of Millstone, Jerry D, Carter of Rittman, Ohio, and Michael Carter of Chloe; five daughters, Opal Kirchberg of Glenville, Sharon Jarvis of Chloe, Judy Dobbins of Athens, Alabama, Nina Wilfong of Linn, and Louise Ice of Spencer; a step-daughter, Velma Hicks of Arnoldsburg; a niece whom she raised, Elsie Jarvis of Florida; sister Emma Jean Minney of Spencer; 33 grandchildren, and 48 great grandchildren. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Russell Carter; a step-daughter, Vera Westfall and a grandson, Charles Lyons. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Stump Funeral, Arnoldsburg. Rev. Michael Jackson will officiate. Interment will be in the Metz Cemetery at Nicut. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
