Robert F. Cummings, 82, of Looneyville, West Virginia, died Thursday, June 3, 2004 in Roane General Hospital, Spencer. He was born May 1, 1922 in Clay County, a son of the late Charlie H. and Genettie Strange Cummings. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine A. Smith Cummings, one infant son, two brothers and three sisters. Mr. Cummings was a retired coal miner, a former railroad employee and a retired employee of the WV Department of Highways. Survivors include two sons, Robert F. Cummings, Jr. of Powhaten, Virginia and Doyle L. Cummings of Glen Allen, Virginia; four daughters, Janette Ramsey, Loretta Cummings and JoAnn Scanton all of Spencer and Delores McKaughan of Evans; one sister, Emma McKinney of Newton; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, June 5 at 11 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer with Rev. Fred Patterson officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Cemetery, Harrison.
