The Creston Community Building benefit auction will be held on Saturday, June 12, starting at 4 P. M. at the building. Those with items to donate should contact the trustees or call Donna Sue at 275-3202.

The Creston area continues to receive thunderstorms. Hay harvest has come to a halt and some other outside work is also at a standstill. The hot weather and rain have made for some hazardous driving conditions. One local resident found himself going the opposite direction whilst rounding a curve in an adjoining county.

Jeremy Ferrell was consulting with Dr. I. Yankem and had a bad reaction and ended up at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. However, he got straightened around and is now doing fine.

Nancy Engelke was consulting her bone doctor. She was also consulting with her pharmacist about her medications and their side effects.

It was learned that Sgt. James A. Blankenship, USA, Retired, has been on the sick list.

The Green Hornet and The Smurf were in Creston looking for the big trucks that tore up the road between Creston & Spencer. While the road crew doesn't have the funds to repair the roads, the folks down at the Mouth of the Elk River decided to help out a "poor" Boone County used car dealership and purchased a bunch of Jeep Libertys to replace the Cherokees. It is sort of like trading in one's Mercedes and getting a Yugo, but, of course, tax dollars are always spent wisely. The talk around is that Junior Jackson and Broadway Joe have promised a prominent Elizabeth farmer the Wirt road job.

Kelly Groggs, driver of the climacteric bus, recently had a used wedding dress sale up at the senior center. It was not reported if Mr. Dexterity went shopping at the big sale.

Mr. & Mrs. Jack Dobbins reported that they were planning to move to Elizabeth.

Kenny Grady reported that there was a certain comely individual who, oh shall we say, had an awkward moment at an Italian eatery but all was not really as it seemed although "mother" was quite concerned at the time.

Carl Greathouse and Randy Miller reported seeing a large bruin out on Sixteen Ridge the other day. Several people indicated that they didn't want to see those critters anywhere while others asked where Sixteen Ridge was situate. Of course that answer is easy; it is the hill on the Sixteen Bend in the Little Kanawha. The tip of the bend is at "Munday Beach" at the mouth of Lower Leading Creek. By road one turns out Katy's Run Road at Annamoriah.

Euell Russell was calling on Mr. & Mrs. Don Rhodes.
