Delbert R. Bunner Sr., 55, of Brohard, Wirt County, WV, died April 18, 2001, at his residence.

Mr. Bunner was born May 11, 1945, a son of the late John and Magdelene Haney Bunner. He had been owner and operator of Bunner's Garage in Brohard since 1972, and was a former well tender for Ritchie Lease and a construction worker. He was well known throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley for his passion as an avid square dancer and caller, he enjoyed flying planes and racing stock cars.

Mr. Bunner was a member of the Bell Chapel United Methodist Church and the Grantsville Lions Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marilyn Bunner; daughter, Deborah Hartshorn of Mt. Zion, WV; three sons, Christopher Bunner of Columbus, Ohio; Delbert Ray Bunner, Jr. and Jonathan G. Bunner, both of Brohard; two brothers, Ralph Bunner of Brohard and Howard Bunner of Newton Falls, Ohio; three sisters, Opal Lewinberger of Barberton, Ohio; Florence Haute of Doylestown, Ohio and Mary Barton of Palestine, WV; an aunt, Mabel Stevens of Munday, WV; seven grandchildren and four step grandchildren.

Mr. Bunner was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Bunner in 1965.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Busch Funeral Home of Elizabeth, WV. Reverend Rick Swearingen will officiate. Burial will follow in the Wolverton Cemetery at Munday. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
