ALCAN COULD STAY IN RAVENSWOOD

RAVENSWOOD - A federal judge has ruled that Alcan Incorporated will be allowed to keep an aluminum rolling mill in Ravenswood provided it gives up rolling mills in Fairmont and Oswego, New York. The agreement has been made between the Montreal-based aluminum company and the US Justice Department. Alcan was facing a federal antitrust order to sell the Ravenswood plant, part of Pechiney. Several jobs would be affected regionally.
