WIRT CIRCUIT CLERK CANDIDATES ASK FOR RECOUNT

(05/21/2004)
The two candidates in the close race for Wirt County Circuit Court Clerk have both asked for a recount.

Lois Hall defeated incumbent Misty Campbell in the primary by seven votes.

During the canvass, Hall was still declared the winner by 10 votes.

Hall says even though she's been declared the winner, she doesn't mind having the votes recounted.

"Well, whatever happens it'll be for the best. If I win fine and if I lose I'll go congratulate Misty and we'll go on working together," says Hall.

Misty Campbell says her supporters wanted her to ask for a recount to make sure their votes were counted, but she doesn't think it will change things.

The recount will happen next Tuesday.
