Emma Siers, 83, of Creston, Ohio, died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at her residence following a brief period of declining health.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, W.Va., with Pastor John Powell officiating. Burial will be at the Prudence Chapel Cemetery at Minnora.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, at Stump Funeral Home.

She was born July 13, 1920, in Calhoun County, W.Va., to Martin and Maude Boone Metz. She married Clyde Siers on April 20, 1941. He died Nov. 25, 1996.

She retired in 1980 from Siers Grocery, which she and her husband owned and operated in Chloe, W.Va., for more than 40 years. She was also a postal clerk in Chloe. She was a member of the Minnora Methodist Church. She had made her home in West Virginia until moving to Creston, Ohio, in 1998, to be close to her daughter.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandy (Leo) Murphy of Creston, Ohio, and Sue Calvert of Lost Creek, W.Va.; a son, Daniel (Theresa) Siers of Charleston; four grandchildren, Jeanette "Janie" Murphy of Chillicothe, Ohio, Paul Murphy and girlfriend, Beth Garrett of Wooster, Ohio, David Wright and fiancé, April Kovach of Jane Lew, W.Va., and Tracy (Chris) Ciardiello of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; two great-grandchildren, Caroline and Emma Ciardiello; brothers, Frank Metz of Chloe, W.Va., and Martin Metz Jr. of Orma, W.Va.; sisters, Irene Wayne of Spencer, W.Va.; and Inez Carr of Mount Zion, W.Va.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and three sisters.
