NATIONAL NURSES WEEK RECOGNIZES THE PROFESSION - "They Are Valued And Respected In Calhoun"

(05/04/2004)
National Nurses Week begins May 6 and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of nursing as a modern profession.

"Nurses: Your Voice, Your Health, Your Life" is the theme for 2004.

From emergency rooms and bedside nursing in hospitals to long-term care facilities, and from research institutions to the halls of Congress, the depth and breadth of the nursing profession is meeting the expanding health care needs of American society.

"Nursing as a profession is well respected in Calhoun County and we take pride in having a family member involved in the front line of health care in our community," says Susan Barnes, Director of Nursing at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center.

"Nurses here are taking care of people they have known all of their lives. They are valued and respected by the community."

In honor of the dedication, commitment, and tireless efforts of nurses in promoting and maintaining the health of people in our community, and in recognition of nurses everywhere for the quality work they provide, take a moment to thank the nurse who provided safe, highly skilled and compassionate care to you or a family member.
