| The smell of ramps being cooked at the Upper West Fork VFD drifted
across
the West Fork to Route 16, announcing the annual ramp dinner held at
the
park for nearly thirty years. Hundreds came from far and wide to
enjoy the
oniony morsels, cooked to perfection in large skillets.
Ramp lovers could also be delighted with the other entrees from
chicken and
ham, beans and cornbread and dozens and dozens of home-cooked
delights
and salads. Then there was the biggest dessert table you ever saw.
The annual fundraiser is for the Upper West Fork Park and Fire
Department.
Next weekend, if you didn't get your fill, there will be another
event at the
Minnora Center on Saturday.
