Walter "Junior" Ward, 76, of Parkersburg, formerly of Grantsville

Walter "Junior" Ward, 76, of Parkersburg died April 17, 2004, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.

He was born in Grantsville, a son of the late Walter and Ina Wright Ward. He was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church and worked for Elkem, formerly Union Carbide. His favorite pastime was stock car racing in which he participated and was a spectator.

Survivors include his wife of more than 50 years, Norma Robey Ward of Parkersburg; two sisters, Geraldine Sloan of Parkersburg and Blondell Miller of Ravenswood; one sister-in-law, Gladys "Tiny" Armstrong of Lubeck; and 10 nieces and nephews, Myrna Cochran, Karen Rippeto, Linda Weaver, Michael Robey, David Robey, Darrell Miller, James Miller, Nina Hanson, Max Sloan and Ruth Ann Moss. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one nephew, Buddy Roger Robey.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Larry Piatt officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
