FRAT HOUSE DECK COLLAPSES NEAR GLENVILLE COLLEGE - Students Receive Fractures And Other Injuries

(04/16/2004)
A deck attached to a Glenville State College fraternity house collapsed last night, tumbling several students to the ground.

Glenville State College reported the "students received non-life-threatening injuries as a result of structural damage to an off-campus property."

Early reports said some of the students received fractures and other multiple injuries.

The Gilmer County Sheriff's Department said they believed less than six people were taken to the hospital.

Glenville State was unable to determine the number of students on the deck.

The deck was described as "pretty big" and one source said it was "full of students."

Most of Gilmer County's emergency services responded to the 11 p.m. incident at the Tau Kappa Epsilon house in Glenville, located a short distance from the college campus.

"The GSC Office of Student Life is available to provide further assistance to any student needing support," according to Nicole McDonald, a public relations spokesperson for the college.
