Thomas Avery Wood, Jr., 68 - Sand Ridge

Thomas Avery Wood, Jr., 68, of Sand Ridge, West Virginia, passed away April 13, 2004 in Roane General Hospital, Spencer, following a brief illness.

Born July 9, 1936, he was a son of the late Thomas Avery and Viola Umstead Wood. He was a former employee of the West Virginia Department of Highways and Weston State Hospital as well as Jackson's Mill 4-H Grounds at Weston, WV. He was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church at Rosedale.

Surviving are two daughters, Debra Mosley of Yuma, AZ and Romona Morris of Athens, AL; a son, Thomas Avery Wood, III of Tuscon, AZ; one sister, Thelma Wire of Grantsville, WV; one brother, O'Dell Wood of Stumptown, WV; several grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; half sister, Belva Umstead Carpenter of Ohio; sister, Maggie Burrows of WV; and brothers, Guy Wood, Warren Grove Wood, Denver James Wood, and Romeo (Jake) Wood.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24 at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Rev. David Morris will officiate. Interment will be in the Collins Community Cemetery, Stumptown.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services.
