A fallen tree across a power line along Euclid-Nicut Road caused a brush fire Friday afternoon. The Upper West Fork VFD responded about 4:30 p.m. where dry leaves, logs and scrub brush burned about five acres of woodland against a steep hillside.

Firemen had to mount the steep hill to stop the blaze near the summit. The UWVFD was called back on a rekindle about 8:30 p.m.
