(04/10/2004)

EMTs administer care to victim along Route 16

Auto landed over embankment, described as total loss

Auto skidded down Rt. 16 and struck tree on left

A Ritchie County man was injured Friday evening when his auto spun out of control, skidded about 125 feet down Route 16, crashed against a tree and went over an embankment.

Calhoun EMS took Chris Ross, 25, to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center after the 7:10 p.m. incident. Ross reportedly suffered multiple injuries.

The accident happened near the intersection of White Pine Road. Ross' vehicle was traveling north on Rt. 16, reportedly going home from work at the Grantsville Post Office.

A resident of White Pine Road said he heard the crash a couple miles away.

Deputy Sheriff Ron Bandy, who investigated the accident, said the vehicle was a total loss.

The Grantsville VFD also responded to the call.
