Opal Gladys McCartney, 78 - Grantsville

Opal Gladys McCartney, 78, of Grantsville, West Virginia, passed away April 7, 2004 at her home.

Born in Calhoun County, she was a daughter of the late Orval and Icy Husk Hayhurst. She was a devoted Christian.

Surviving are two daughters, Virginia Erlewine and her husband, Tink of Grantsville and Patricia Bollinger and her husband Charles of Washington, WV; one son, Gerald McCartney and his wife Linda, of Grantsville; son-in-law, Richard Burl Postalwait; 8 grandchildren, Jamie Gerwig, Bobby Erlewine, Rick Postalwait, Kevin Postalwait, Jason Bollinger, Jerry and Amanda McCartney and Barbie Brown; 6 great grandchildren; 1 foster sister, Deloris Davis of East Liverpool, Ohio; and a special cousin and caretaker, Donald Blake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orlen McCartney and daughter, Carolyn Postalwait.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Rev. Alfred Hickman will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mt. Zion, WV. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
