GUARD GLAD TO BE HOME

By David Hedges PUBLISHER The Times Record-Roane County Reporter The 51 returning members of the National Guard unit stationed in Spencer received a heroes' welcome Wednesday when they came home after a year in the Middle East. The parking lot outside the armory was crowded with family, friends and well-wishers when two buses carrying members of Detachment 1, Co. B of the 1092nd Engineering Battalion pulled in around 1 p.m. "I thank you, your country thanks you and the whole community has turned out to thank you," said Lt.
