Charleston police are looking for a woman who allegedly stabbed a security officer at the Charleston Town Center.

A security officer at the Charleston Town Center saw a woman leaving the store with unpaid items last Friday.

The officer followed her out of the store and into the parking garage and attempted to stop her.

The woman began screaming and tried to get into her vehicle.

The officer tried to grab her, and she stabbed him in the hand with a screwdriver.

Police are looking for the suspect.

BROTHERLY LOVE

A Wayne County man shot and killed his brother in front of their mother's home last week.

Twenty-five-year-old Adam Perry is accused of shooting 28-year-old Mark Perry in front of their mother's home near Fort Gay. His brother died at the scene after a .12 gauge gunshot was fired through a window.

Authorities said they had been arguing over money most of the day.

Adam Perry's girlfriend Lillian Chafin drove him away from the scene, after which police found the suspect hiding in the trunk of the car. They said a string dangling from the trunk led to the finding. Perry has been charged with first degree murder.

NOT CAP PISTOLS

A 17-year-old Kanawha county student allegedly brought a Raven .25-caliber semiautomatic handgun and .380-caliber Beretta handgun to school last week, firing one of the weapons in the restroom.

Also last week, a 19-year-old George Washington High School student was arrested after he allegedly had a gun in a car in the school's parking lot.

Kanawha County's most serious student shooting occurred on January 26 when a 16-year-old Capital High School student Jimmy Nichols was shot in the stomach on the steps of Emmanuel Baptist Church while waiting on the bus on Washington Street West. Another 16-year-old student was charged.

Kanawha County school board President Bill Raglin said the gun incidents are his "worst nightmare," and that school officials are searching for answers on how to prevent gun-related incidents from happening at school.

"FROG" CREECH MURDERED

"Frog" Creech's body was found last week in Preston County in his camping trailer, apparently dead from one or more gunshot wounds. Police are investigating the death as a homicide. He was 43.

The body was discovered in the Bruceton Mills area last Wednesday in a camper-type trailer off the Little Sandy Creek Road south of Bruceton Mills.

Preston County Sheriff Ron Crites estimated Creech had been dead less than 24 hours when he was found by friends.

TEN-YEAR-OLD SHOOTS MAILMAN

Postal authorities in Pittsburgh say a ten-year-old boy fired the gun that killed a postal worker from West Virginia.

The boy said he fired a gun through his window at a tree and it killed 45-year-old Clayton Smith of Colliers.

Smith was shot through the back in July 2003 while sitting in the shade sorting mail.
