JACK, ONE MORE THIS WEEK - Crooks Take $85,000 From His Scott Depot Home |

| Here's Jack, making news twice this week. Major media may soon embed a reporter with multi-million dollar jackpot winner Jack Whittaker. Today, Whittaker reported $85,000 has been stolen from his Putnam County home. State Police are investigating the apparent theft. State Police spokesman Sgt. Jay Powers could not give specifics of the alleged theft, but he confirmed police were investigating an incident at Whittaker's Scott Depot residence. Randy Parsons, owner of Teays Valley Auto & Truck Service, said a Dodge Caravan was stolen off his lot about 3 a.m. today. Parsons was told by a trooper from the Teays Valley State Police detachment that the people who stole the vehicle, believed to be a man and woman, drove the car to Whittaker's Scott Depot home and took $85,000 out of one his vehicles. Parsons was told the image of the individuals was caught on tape, but the images were not clear. Parsons said he found the stolen auto parked at a nearby grocery store. When Parsons went to retrieve the vehicle, he said he found a $5,000 cash bundle with Whittaker's name and a date stamped on the band. He said the roll consisted of $100 bills. Whittaker was the sole winner of a $314.9 million Powerball jackpot on Christmas 2002. In August, he claims he was drugged while hanging out inside a Cross Lanes strip club. Police say two club employees conspired to slip Whittaker a mickey, break into his Lincoln Navigator and steal a briefcase containing about $545,000. The money was found in a nearby bush. In January, police in Putnam County arrested him and charged him with threatening to kill the manager of a St. Albans bar. Later, State Police arrested him near the Tri-State Racetrack & Gaming Center in Nitro and charged him with drunken driving. Amidst his arrests, a thief broke into his Lincoln Navigator while it was parked outside of his Scott Depot home and took $100,000. Whittaker was back in the news this week because an employee of the Tri-State Racetrack & Gaming Center sued him, claiming that he sexually assaulted her in March 2003.
