Spring has been the general trend in the Creston area for some time now with frogs and spade footed toads singing, birds, including turkey buzzards back and busy, hairy bittercress blooming and wild turkeys out strutting about to impress the little hens.

Friday night there was a hard rain and over the weekend there was high water. The Creston auction had to be cancelled as one could not drive to the Community Building. The next auction will be April 3.

The Burning Springs Methodist spring revival begins at 7 P. M. on March 31 with Richard Runion of Mineral Wells who does a rendition of the Apostle John in the Spirit. On April 1 Pastor Paul Williams of Mineral Wells will bring the message with Rick Petty from Parkersburg singing "country gospel". On Friday the Marks family from Burning Springs will sing and Rev. Gladson Grim will preach. Saturday evening will feature singing by Steve & Jaunita Lockhart with a message brought by Rev. Juanita Lockhart. On Sunday evening Rev. Tim Kemp from Newark will bring the message and Amanda Ray will sing. All are welcome.

Nancy Hall was feeling a little under the weather after undergoing a series of treatments.

Deward L. Offutt, Sr. of Daniel's Run passed away. Older residents can remember when he came courting on Little Creek.

The gathering down at the Mouth of the Elk River has provided ample entertainment for state residents this year. Unfortunately the price for the circus is very, very high. A big promoter of "more money for needy senior citizens" was found to have a salary of over $301,000 [plus a paltry $35,000 for incidentals]. Also he had a state senator on his payroll with a $25,000 "part time job". Apparently such is not uncommon with numerous legislators being kept by sugar daddies who need a warm body properly placed.

Meanwhile the various candidates for governor have been out and about for the most part making promises that are not possible to deliver. It was learned that one of the Republican candidates would be the choice of Sen. Earl Ray Tomblin and associates if the wrong Democrat got the nomination. State Sen. President Tomblin's mommy gets about $400,000/year of taxpayer money for her winning puppies. While all this largesse is continuing, the highway department is sending out paperwork with guidelines spelling out how layoffs will be handled. Likely the low pay workers will be sent home while cushy jobs with little or no responsibility will be untouched. One fellow has "an office" at a well known fraternal club.

It was reported at the Creston Community Building meeting at the first ATV Poker run of the season will be held April 17. Plans were announced for an upgrade to the water system, bathroom and a storage building for a lawn mower, tools, etc.

Matthew Copen was doing some work on his chariot.

The other day Mr. Dexterity wasn't home and when asked he said, "I had to go to the store to purchase some milk." Seems he only purchases small quantities at a time as he was gone the next evening too with the same excuse. However, on the third night her car was at his house and it was pointed out that he would not have to go get milk as the milk maid come to visit.

The Calhoun crew hauled some rock up the Richardsonville road and the Roane crew used stone to patch the hardtop back at the head of Beaver Dam.

Joe Cunningham reported that a slip came into the road going up to his mother's residence on the Lock 5 road at Burning Springs.
