TWO INJURED AFTER TRUCK STRIKES TREE - Little White Oak Accident

A driver and a passenger where injured when their 2000 Ford Ranger crashed against a tree on Little White Oak Monday evening.

The injured men, one identified as Jim Giar of Orma, were taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center after the 5:30 p.m. accident.

A spokesperson at the scene said the men did not appear to be critically injured.

Calhoun EMS dispatched two ambulances, one from the Upper West Fork station and one from the Mt. Zion station.

Upper West Fork VFD Chief Randy Perkins said the men managed to extract themselves from the truck, which was heavily damaged. Perkins said the department responded with eleven firemen and two trucks.

Deputy Sheriff Ron Bandy said the truck left the highway and went over a 15 foot bank, striking a tree. The accident happened about one and one-half miles up White Oak off Oka Road, he said.
