FIDDLIN' GLEN SMITH PASSES - Elizabeth Musician Won Vandalia Award

Wirt Fiddler Glen Smith is dead at the age of 77. The often recognized musician who lived in Elizabeth, died last Thursday.

His 60-year career was recognized by Vandalia, but will be best remembered for his outstanding contribution to fiddling by playing at reunions, concerts and dances.

He won recognition at the Vandalia gathering several times, and some West Virginians felt he was one of the best old-time fiddle players in the state. Funeral services will be conducted at 2. p.m. Monday at the Metheney-Pomroy Funeral Home in Elzabeth. Burial in Fouty Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today (Sunday).
