Kay VanScoy Linville, 59 Ritchie County, formerly of Calhoun

Kay VanScoy Linville departed her earthly life surrounded by her family on February 15, 2004, at Parkersburg, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Kay was born on June 15, 1944, in Parkersburg, to the late Shelby M. and Kathleen "Kady" VanScoy. She was employed by the Ritchie County Board of Education as a teacher's aide for 27 years. The last 15 years were spent at Creed Collins Elementary School of Pennsboro, where she made many long-lasting and meaningful friendships. Kay graduated from Calhoun County High School with the class of 1962 and was a member of the WVSPCA. She was an avid supporter of Ritchie County Athletic Programs and was a faithful member of the Pennsboro Church of Christ.

She is survived by a daughter, Tonya R. Linville of Pennsboro; daughter and sons-in-law, Lisa D. and Greg Swisher of Williamstown and Capt. Stephanie K. and Chris Kennedy of Eglin AFB in Florida; son and daughter-in-law, John and Jo Ellen Linville of Millwood, W.Va.; sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Lando Robinson of Kenna, W.Va.; and grandchildren, Zachary Linville, Shawn Linville, Accasia Swisher, Joel Swisher, Jaron Swisher, Kieran Kennedy, Aidan Kennedy, Courtney Linville and Katellen Linville. Kay also leaves many other relatives and close friends.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ, Pennsboro, with the Evangelist Terry Jones officiating. Interment will be in the Church of Christ Cemetery at Pike, W.Va. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

It is requested that memorials in the name of Kay Linville may be made to Creed Collins Elementary School, 512 Collins Ave., Pennsboro, WV 26415.
