There will be a special meeting at the Creston Community Building at 5 P. M. on Monday February 23 to discuss the non-profit status of the community organization.

"Mug" Park slipped on the ice when he got out of the car after coming home from the hospital. He was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center and then airlifted to Morgantown where he passed away. He was wounded during World War II. Burial is to be at Ground Hog.

Those calling on C. Glen Arthur included Robert "Butch" Goodnight, Judy Gillis, Gary Ferrell and Robert Lee Phillips.

While Creston was without power and the water was rising, Dorothy Graham went to visit with Mary & Boyd Schrader on the Pribble Flats. While she was there Bud Francis, her granddaughter Candy and young son, Angie Kemp & 3 children Mikie, Megan and Marley all were calling on Dorothy.

There is happy & welcome news for family and friends of Wanda Lee Grim Juart who will be moving back home to West Virginia soon. It just proves again one can take the girl out of West Virginia but one can't take West Virginia out of the girl. Welcome home Wanda, we've missed you.

Kelly Groggs sent Mr. Dexterity a pretty Rose for St. Valentine's Day along with a big heart shaped balloon. Kelly noted that this was leap year and that girls could do special things this year. It was noted that Mr. Dexterity's complexion matched the color of the rose.

Mr. & Mrs. Joe Cunningham spent the weekend visiting family in Hedgesville.

Local roads have become very soft as a result of the thaw. It was reported that the propane truck got in the ditch while trying to go out the Umstead Ridge.

It was understood that Columbia Gas is holding off on drilling until the class action lawsuit is settled. Columbia wanted the suit removed to federal court and is concerned that they will lose big time in the case.

With the talk of water legislation down at the Mouth of the Elk River it is enlightening to read of doings out in the "old west". Some years back the forest service, etc. decided they should get rid of ranchers and even with a new president the pointy headed bureaurocrats are going ahead with running people off land that has been in their family for generations. The latest round in the war concerns the Diamond Bar ranch in New Mexico and relates to "The Wildlands Project" which would make at least half of North America off limits to humans.

The Wannabees on the national scene continue to make Curley, Larry and Moe look like the straight men on the set. One would have to conclude that lady who wears the Mao Tse Tung suits is planning to ride in to the "rescue" and has been making sure that all the plans of the others are for naught.

Brandon Ferrell, Matthew Copen and Mark "Old Lizzard" Shimer were among those calling on Mr. & Mrs. Carl Ferrell and family.

A number of area residents are planning on visiting the legislature and attending the "Taste of West Virginia" legislative reception put on by the W. Va. Farm Bureau and the forestry association on February 25.
