Arlion Ray "Bud" Chafin, 62, of Stoutsville, Ohio formerly of Spencer, died Sunday, February 8, 2004, in the VA Medical Center, Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born April 22, 1941, in Kermit, Mingo County, a son of the late Will and Maudie D. Maynard Chafin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorthy Haught, Stella Mae Alley and Lucille James; one brother, James Justice. Mr. Chafin was a disabled and decorated Army veteran of the Viet Nam War. He was also a member of the First Advent Christian Church, Spencer. Survivors include one sister, Madge Varney of Spencer; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Gay, with the Rev. D. Alan Westfall officiating. Military graveside rites will be rendered by the American Legion Post 21, Spencer. There will be no visitation.
