STATE KIDS WILL GET MORE INSURANCE HELP

(02/07/2004)
West Virginia's Children's Health Insurance Program will benefit from a redistribution of federal money.

Governor Bob Wise says the state will receive $12 million to provide health insurance for children.

West Virginia is one of 22 states to split the insurance money not used by other states.

Wise says CHIP already insures 61,000 children in the Mountain State.

This surplus funding helps West Virginia offset a projected deficit for 2007 in the CHIPS program, which increased recently because of enrollment growth.

The number of uninsured adults in the state continues to rise.
