MC KOWN FILES AGAINST STEMPLE IN HOUSE RACE - Three County Officials Unopposed

Arnoldsburg resident Charles W. McKown, a Republican, has filed for the House of Delegates-33rd District, against incumbent Bill Stemple (Democrat).

The delegate district includes Calhoun and parts of Clay and Gilmer.

Filing for the 2nd Senatorial District, incumbent Jeffery Kessler (Democrat) of Glen Dale and Russ Snyder (Republican) of Mannington.

The line-up of candidates for the May 11th primary election appears to be final, although candidacy is reviewed by the Secretary of State.

Three Calhoun officials are unopposed in the May Primary, according to Circuit Clerk Shelia Garretson.

Incumbent County Clerk Richard Kirby (Democrat) is unopposed in his bid for another six year term.

Appointed Calhoun Prosecuting Attorney Matt Minney (Democrat) is unopposed for a four year term.

Incumbent Assessor Jason Nettles (Democrat) of Nicut is unopposed in the May Primary, but he will face Republican Gaylen Duskey of Grantsville in the General Election.

Democrat Shelia Garretson of Grantsville, the incumbent Circuit Clerk, will face Democrat Larry Robinson of Grantsville for the six-year-term.

Four Democratic candidates have filed for Magistrate, with two to be elected. They include Rick Postalwait of Grantsville, Teresa Robinson of Grantsville, Perry G. Jenkins of Rosedale and Henry "Billy" Mullins of Chloe. It is a four year term.

Four Democratic candidates are seeking to be the Sheriff of Calhoun County, including Chief Deputy Carl Ballengee of Millstone, Jeffery Smith of Big Springs, Charles "Charlie" McCroskey of Grantsville and Ivan Holbert of Big Bend.

Incumbent Calhoun Commissioner Bob Weaver (Democrat-Lee District) and Bill Jarvis (Democrat-Washington District) are on the ballot for a six-year-term.

There are six candidates for the non-partisan Board of Education (four year term): Joy Starcher(Lee District) of Mt. Zion; incumbent Ralph Cunningham (Sherman District) of Grantsville; incumbent Burl Simers (Sherman District) of Grantsville; Larry Baker (Sherman District) of Grantsville; Sandra McCumbers (Sherman District) of Grantsville and Sandra Dale (Sherman District) of Grantsville.

Doyle Hupp, Jr. (Democrat) is unopposed as County Surveyor.
