Arlene O. Hoalcraft, 87, of West Virginia 2, West Union, Big Flint Community, died Jan. 23, 2004, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.

She was born April 9, 1916, at Grantsville, Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Porter Lee and Cassie Alberta Wilson Reese. Her husband, James Ezra Hoalcraft, whom she married in 1936, preceded her in death on May 15, 1980.

Mrs. Hoalcraft was a homemaker and was Baptist by faith. Along with her husband, she assisted as caretaker for many years at the Masonic Memorial Park Cemetery, W.Va. 18 North, West Union. She is survived by seven daughters, Edith Mae Stackpole of Reeder, Ethel Fay Childers and husband, Ferrell, of Big Flint, Wava Jean Brown of Glenville, Beatrice Gay Dalton and husband, Vernon, of Belmont, Alberta Sue Guthrie and husband, Homer, of Geneva, Ohio, Barbara Ann McClung of Fairmont and Rachel Louise Underwood of Clarksburg; one son, Roger Allan Hoalcraft of Belmont; one sister, Mary Lou Wheeler of Greenwood; one brother, Ford Reese of Greenwood; 28 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five daughters, one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union, with the Rev. Rufus Hoalcraft officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, West Union. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
