JUDGE EVANS MOTHER PASSES

The mother of Circuit Judge Thomas Evans III has passed away. Louise Kinney Evans, 87, of Spencer WV died January 14 after a long illness.

Visitation will be from 6 pm to 9 pm Monday, January 19 at Taylor Vandale Funeral Home, and services will take place at Saint John's Methodist Church in Spencer at 11 am on January 20. Memorial donations may be made to the Roane County library.

Born at Fort Campbell, KY on September 28, 1915, she was the only child of Paulene Varner Kinney and John Wesley Kinney.

She lived briefly in Oklahoma City, OK and then in Portsmouth OH where she attended school, and graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1933. She married Thomas C. Evans on March 16, 1940. They lived in Portsmouth and St. Albans, WV before moving to Spencer in 1950.

Mrs Evans worked for many years for Burke, Parsons & Bowlby and Hayes and Company. She was an avid reader, a great supporter of Roane County's library, and she loved to play bridge.

She was a member of Saint John's Methodist Church.

Survivors include daughters Sarah Evans of Lexington, KY, Meredith Baughman of Corvallis OR, and Mary Bales of Gandeeville, son Thomas C. Evans III of Ripley, eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She was proceded in death by her husband Tom Evans in 2000, her daughter Nancy Jane Evans in 1987, and an infant son, John Thomas Evans, in 1945.
