Ray Cunningham, 88, of Elizabeth, formerly of Calhoun, died Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at his residence.

He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Curtis and Sophia Jane Greathouse Cunningham. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, attended the Burning Springs United Methodist Church, retired from Hope Gas with 29 years of service and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Hallie Mollohan Cunningham; one son and his wife, Joseph and Alice Cunningham of Elizabeth; two daughters and their husbands, Sonja and Alan Artibise of New Orleans, La., and Shelia and Larry Goldizen of Liberty, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Lee Goldizen, Laura Cunningham, Rick McClead, Cheyenne Cunningham, Malinda McKeever and Marnie Vasilhoff; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Cunningham of Little Hocking; and a sister, Dollie Shrader of Parkersburg. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Cunningham; brothers and sisters, Roy, Russell, Pearl, Shirley, Maggie and Effie; and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Busch-Kimes Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with Pastor Kenneth Welch and Paul Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Beatty Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. today and from noon until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
