Irene Taylor, 85 - Newton

Irene Taylor, 85, of Newton, West Virginia, died Saturday, January 4, 2004, in the Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Big Otter, after an extended illness.

She was born May 1, 1918 at Elana, Roane County, a daughter of the late Hunter and Fanny E. Smith Wilson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, F. Kenneth Taylor and three brothers, Otto L., Smythe F. and John E. Wilson.

Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a member of the Newton Baptist Church, Newton.

Survivors include her children, Marilee Lewis of Huntington, Robert K. Taylor of Newton, John H. Taylor of Spencer and Janet Anderson of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Gertrude Boothe of Left hand, brother Hunter Clair Wilson of Lewisville, TX; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, January 7 at 1 p.m. in the Newton Baptist Church, Newton, with Rev. Ronald W. Fisher officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.

Friends may call at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, on Tuesday January 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the Newton Baptist Church on Wednesday, the 7th, one hour before the funeral.
