NEW YEAR'S FIRE DAMAGES MOBILE HOME

(01/02/2004)

Fire did extensive damage to a mobile home near the mouth of Raccoon Run shortly before noon on New Year's Day.

Members of the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department managed to extinguish the blaze, with major damage confined to one end of the structure.

The trailer, which belonged to Ralph Wilson of Spencer, was apparently being used as a camp.

The structure was located in a river bottom across Steer Creek, a short distance from the Calhoun-Gilmer line.

Fire trucks were able to cross Steer Creek on a low-water bridge.
