Marie Carroll, 85, of Harrisville died Dec. 21, 2003, at her residence.

She was born June 30, 1918, in Arnoldsburg, a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Mahalie Ann Elmore Parsons. Mrs. Carroll was a seamstress and enjoyed gardening and quilting. She attended the Harrison Street United Methodist Church of Harrisville.

She is survived by six daughters, Bernice Hostottle of Little Hocking, Emma Hammett and her husband, Gale, of Vienna, Martha Vincent and her husband, David, of Cairo, Connie Schaney and her husband, Martin, of Carrolton, Ohio, Dixie Reed and her husband, John, of Pennsboro and Gloria Morgan and her husband, James, of Williamstown.

Sons, Samuel Carroll M.D. of Charleston and Daniel Carroll and his wife, Kathy, of Harrisville; two sisters; three brothers; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and her faithful and loving cat, Sushi.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by one daughter, Eva Carroll; one son-in-law, Paul Hostottle; and one granddaughter, Shelly Schaney.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with the Rev. Harlan Hodge officiating. Burial will be in the Cairo Masonic Cemetery at Cairo. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
