CRI RECEIVES "LIFE SAVING' GRANT FROM FEMA

(12/14/2003)
On the heals of a major budget cut, Community Resources Inc. has received part of a federal FEMA grant totaling $862,309 for homeless people.

The money helps families pay for rent, mortgages, utilities and food.

CRI in Grantsville will receive $8,697.

CRI's Director in Parkersburg, Teresa Ward, had expressed concern over the agency's loss of $238,000 in block grant funding for 2004, indicating some CRI offices could be closed and jobs be lost. (See earlier Hur Herald story)

Ward has not announced what cuts are still pending with the agency.

Roane will receive $11,065 and Wirt will receive $5,829.
