Mrs. Edythe M. Johnson, 77 - Grantsville

Mrs. Edythe M. Johnson, 77 of Grantsville, West Virginia, died Friday, December 12, 2003.

Edythe was born February 10, 1926, in Grantsville a daughter of the late Clinton G. and Ina N. Hannah. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in New Martinsville, WV. She was a graduate of Calhoun High School. She received an associate degree in business from Mountain State Business College in Parkersburg, WV.

She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the American Legion Post 120 Auxiliary in Hundred, WV. She was actively involved as a 4-H leader, Sunday School teacher and a PTA leader for many years in the Hundred, WV area. She was a sponsor of Children International, presently supporting a young girl from South America, Catherine D. Tamares.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Sam Longwell of Hundred, and Terra and Eugene Mauro of Peters Township, PA; two brothers, Argle Hannah and his wife Elsie of Parkersburg, WV and Robert Hannah of Grantsville; five grandchildren, Thad Longwell and his wife Kim, Dana Longwell and his wife Amanda, Alana Longwell, Nathan Mauro and Sean-Paul Mauro; two great grandchildren, Cara and Camden Longwell; five nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Edythe was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George A. Johnson and her sister, Virginia lee Hannah.

Funeral Mass will be on Monday, December 15 at 11 a.m., at the Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with celebrant Rev. Leo B. Lydon of Clarksburg, WV and Rev. Dave Schmidt of Spencer, WV.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery immediately following the Mass. There will be a reception following the burial at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
