Calhoun County wrestlers are Little Kanawha Conference champions one more
time.
The Red Devils defended their title from a year ago at Wirt County High School by
holding off Braxton County.
The Red Devils had a 154 to 150.5 victory against the runner-up Eagles.
Calhoun County captured four of its five finals matches, the only loss coming at 103
where Bryan Gungle fell 8-7 to Judd Billings of Ravenswood.
Ray Burges 6-1 victory against Chris Miller of Wirt County in the 171-pound class
made the win.
Justin Ashley (125) was the first Red Devil to claim a crown, over Williamstown's
Casey Biddle, 3-1.
Red Devil Eric Metz left no doubt about the championship in the 145-pound class,
with 56 seconds to pin Jeremy Wince of Ritchie County.
Jeff Morris claimed the other title for the Red Devils, earning a tight 3-2 decision
against Yellowjacket Alan Tracewell.
