ADULT EDUCATION

FREE - The High School Equivalency Test is still free in West Virginia. However, you do need to pass a Practice Test first. Call 304-354-6151 Extension 106 to schedule a test or just come in to an Adult Basic Education class. Calhoun County classes are held at the Career Center on Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30-3:30 and Wednesday from 4-6 and Gilmer County classes are at St. Marks Church on Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6. There are also Distance Ed classes available through Arnoldsburg Elementary. Don't wait. Call now.

WIC NUTRITION PROGRAM

The Women, Infants, and Children [WIC] Nutrition Program is a supplemental foods program for pregnant, post-partum, or breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to the age of five. WIC provides food, breastfeeding support and nutrition education to families in Calhoun County. To apply for the WIC Program or to receive more information call the local office at 304-354-6898 or the main office in Parkersburg at 304-428-3688. WIC Clinic is at 186 Hospital Drive Building 2, Suite 3, Grantsville each Wednesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

BASKET BINGO FUNDRAISER - For Keri Cottrell, who is fighting severe Crohn's disease 0n Friday, May 24 at Arnoldsburg Park. Doors open at 5 p.m. bingo starts at 6. $15 Early Bird - $20 at the door. Special games, door prizes, raffles, and concessions will be sold. Keri has undergone multiple surgeries and will undergo surgery in May which may result in a small bowel transplant. All proceeds go towards her medical expenses.

MIX 'N MATCH BINGO FUNDRAISER - For Kaci Miller, a preschool student at Arnoldsburg Elementary is nominated to run for the Wood Festival's, Little Miss Woodchuck. There will be Bingo on Saturday, May 25th at the Arnoldsburg Community Building. Doors will open at 5:00 and bingo will begin at 6:00. There will be 20+ games for $20, with some really great prizes. There will also be some awesome $5 buy in games for a 50" flat screen TV, a 6 burner + side burner propane grill with cover and grilling utensils, a brand new 1 1/2 story complete beehive. There will also be 50/50, raffles and a silent auctions. Concessions will be sold. All money raised will become property of the Calhoun County Wood Festival. GWINNA MARKS FUNDRAISER - A fundraiser for well-known Arnoldsburg beautician Gwinna Marks is set for Saturday, June 8 at 5 p.m. at the Arnoldsburg Community Building. The Spaghetti Dinner and Fundraiser will feature a silent auction, 50/50, cake walk and door prizes. Music by Rick Falls, Tyler Moore and the Marks Family. The benefit will help pay medical expenses related to cervical surgery for Marks, who has been unable to work.
