Truth Is Universal

And ye shall know the truth, and the
truth shall make you free. John 8:32

The Same For All. Truth is the same for all peoples, at all times, and in all places. Truth is not bound by time, nor place, nor race, nor culture. Nor is truth restricted by political or geographical boundaries. Just as both God and Christ are omnipresent (present everywhere), so is Truth.

In The Sciences. Two plus two equals four in China as well as in Chile. Two parts hydrogen plus one part oxygen makes water in Japan as well as in Jamaica. Every seed brings forth after its kind whether you are in Alaska or Nebraska.

King Tut’s Tomb. It is said that when archaeologists opened the tomb of King Tut, among other things, they found grains of wheat that had been buried with this monarch centuries ago. Supposing the germ of life was still in those grains, and they were planted in Kansas soil in the twenty-first century, what kind of wheat would they produce? Some Kansas hybred variety? Wouldn’t they produce the same strain of wheat that they would have if planted in Egypt in King Tut’s day?

The Seed Of The Kingdom. In explaining the parable of the sower, Jesus said, “The seed is the word of God.” (Luke 8:11). Peter writes: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” (1 Peter 1:23). If we planted that Word of God today, anywhere n the world, shouldn’t we get the same thing those preachers of The Word got when they planted it in the first century? Why, then, do we get so many different teachings from the same Word of God today?

Mixed Seed. Suppose when planting King Tut’s wheat in Kansas soil, they mixed in some seeds of the tare and some seeds of some Kansas varieties before planting. Would they get pure KingTut wheat? Suppose we mix in a few doctrines and commandments of men, and a few traditions of men with the seed of the kingdom. Will we get the same thing as the apostles got when they preached the pure Word of God in the first century?

One Plan For All. God’s plan for the redemption of man is universal. “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved…” (Mark 16:15-16). That truth is absolute, unchangeable, and universal. The same plan for all the world…for every creature. There are many things one could do, or not do, to be lost, but we are concerned about what to do to be saved. Who did Jesus say would be saved? Has that truth changed?
