Truth Is Absolute

And ye shall know the truth, and the
truth shall make you free. John 8:32

What Is Truth? A teacher once brought a rabbit to school, believing there would be a number of lessons the children could learn about life. The rabbit became a great pet, and the children decided they should give it a name, but didn’t know whether it was a boy or girl rabbit. After much discussion about the issue, Johnny said: “I know how we could tell.” The teacher blushed, but asked Johnny how, and he replied, “We could vote on it.” We laugh at that, but do not many adults determine truth that way? They seem to believe the majority can’t be wrong.

Truth Is Absolute. Truth is Truth, always has been, always will be. Truth does not depend upon my believing it to be true. God said it, and that settles it, whether I believe it or not. Truth is narrow. Truth does not allow room for opinion or variation. Let’s look at some examples.

In The Field Of Science. Two plus two equals four, always has, always will. Two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen make water, always has, always will. Every seed brings forth after its kind, always has, always will. In each of these examples, there is no other correct answer. Am I being narrow-minded and dogmatic when I make such statements? Truth is narrow. Truth is absolute. There is no room for variation or opinion.

In The Scriptures. “Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12). Am I being narrow-minded when I say that salvation can be found only in the name of Jesus Christ? Is The Bible Truth?

Jesus said: “For if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.” (John 8:24). Am I being dogmatic when I say that you must believe in Christ to be saved? Is The Word of Christ Truth?

Jesus also said: “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3, 5). Am I preaching my opinion when I tell folks that belief is not enough, you must also repent of sin?

Before ascending back to the Father, Jesus said: “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.” (Mark 16:16). “Now wait a minute preacher, are you trying to say that you have to be baptized to be saved?” I didn’t say that. All I did was quote what Jesus said. If you drew that conclusion, you got it from the Lord, not from me. Did Jesus speak Truth?

The Whole Truth. Can salvation be found in part of the Truth? What happens to Truth when you leave part out? Does two equal four? Does two parts hydrogen equal water? Truth is firm. Truth is solid. Truth is absolute. If we leave part out, do we still have truth?
