HUR HERALD FALLS SHORT IN SPORTS - An Explanation

(02/22/2001)

By Bob Weaver

Readers have e-mailed and others have mentioned The Hur Herald's lack of sports coverage. A number of athletes have really excelled and there have been wins and successes in football, basketball and most recently wrestling. Our kids and their coaches deserve recognition for their efforts.

We have tried to cover awards banquets and other events and support the athletic department's fund raising activities.

The Hur Herald has been unable to receive stats, scores, rosters or schedules from Calhoun High School. A request to Roger Propst, administrator in charge of athletics, requesting such information was made last fall. He said he would work on it.

Unfortunately, The Hur Herald does not have the staff nor time to attend many of the games, cover the event, get the stats, take pictures and do a story. We would like to.

We apologize to our readers for this shortcoming. We do appreciate the outstanding achievements of our kids and the efforts of their coaches and wish them well.
